Have you been following all the talk and news about Tiny Houses that seems to have sprung up recently? It seems to be every where these days, including shows devoted to tiny house living on HGTV. It will be interesting to watch where this trend goes in the coming years, which has now arrived in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Charlotte's very first tiny house community -- Keyo Park West -- is springing up in northwest Charlotte's Coulwood neighborhood. Developer/builder, Kelvin Young, is building 56 homes on 20 acres. Prices start at $89,995 for a lot with a one-bedroom, one-bathroom 493-square foot home. Home sizes will range between 498 and 1,000 square feet. Each Keyo Park West Tiny Home will be designed by the buyer in consultation with a Keyo designer and will offer numerous custom finishes which buyers can select from, including:
20+ choices of granite.
14 eco-friendly hardwood floor staines.
Over 100 eco-friendly interior and exterior paint choices.
Fiber cement board and masonry exterior choices
Currently, two lots are available for sale with more to be released in early 2018. A $4,000 non-refundable Design/Lot fee will reserve a tiny house.
The Keyo Tiny Homes will be customizable for size as well:
If you want to add more space to the 493 square foot base size, pricing is:
10x10 or 100 sq.ft = $14,000
12x12 or 144 sq.ft = $20,160
17x10 or 170 sq.ft. = $23,800
Additions will cost as follows:
Additional full bath: $12,000
Additional half bath: $7,000
Addition of a 1 car garage, detached or attached: $25,000
KEYOMICROHOUSE accessory dwellings start at 300 sq.ft = $43,500. These can only be purchased with a KEYOHOUSE accessory dwelling (minimum 600 square foot requirement in Mecklenburg County).
15 of the to-be-released lots will have accessory dwellings. For remaining lots accessory dwellings will be an option.
