Charlotte’s Yiasou Greek Festival is one of the Queen City’s largest and most popular cultural traditions. Over the years, it has earned countless accolades, including “Best Ethnic Festival,” “Reader’s Choice Best Annual Festival,” Charlotte Magazine’s “Best International Festival,” “Best of the City Festival,” “Best of the Best/Best Cultural Festival,” and more. For more than 45 years, Charlotte has been celebrating “all things Greek” at the Yiasou Greek Festival.
Is it any wonder that some 50,000+ Charlotteans attend the festival each year? What was from 1970-1977 a simple church fundraiser known as “Greek Night,” grew into a signature event in 1978. Now a three-day celebration it draws about 3,000 visitors. Today, virtually every member of Charlotte’s Greek community—across all generations—plays a role in bringing the Yiasou Greek Festival to life, making it a true community-wide tradition.
Greek Festival Events Include:
- Cathedral tours of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church — a splendid example of Byzantine architecture. Learn more about the history of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Charlotte.
- Live music and dance: including traditional village dances in colorful traditional Greek costumes.
- Children’s Playland with rides, face painting, games, and more.
- The Holy Trinity Cathedral Choir will be giving 3 choral concerts in conjunction with Cathedral tours on Saturday at 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm and on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
- Wine tasting booth to try out and/or buy Greek wines.
- Shopping: you’ll find a wide selection of unique items from Greek inspired jewelry, wood carvings, scarves and clothing to olive oils and religious books.
- Lots and lots of authentic Greek food and delicacies, as well as a Greek grocery. It really is all about Greek food and pastries at the Yiasou Festival. Getting To & Parking at the Yiasou Greek Festival
CATS/Bus/Lynx Light Rail – The Festival is less than a mile walk from the East/West Boulevard Lynx station.
In partnership with INLIVIAN Housing Redefined (formerly The Charlotte Housing Authority) at 400 East Boulevard, Yiasou Greek Festival patrons and volunteers may park free after 5:00 PM Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday. It’s a “2-blocks stroll” to the Yiasou Greek Festival!
Side street parking is available on nearby Dilworth neighboring streets. Adhere to posted parking guidelines. Please do not block any driveways.
