2025 LABOR DAY FACTS BY THE NUMBERS FROM WALLETHUB:

 

• 35% of American workers belonged to a union in the 1950’s compared with 10% in 2023.
• 170 million Americans aged 16 and older are in the workforce.
• 26% of Americans plan to drive or fly over the Labor Day weekend, up from 21% in 2024. Maybe that’s because the price of a gallon of regular gas is down 9% this year. 
• The three top travel destinations for Labor Day in 2025 are: #1 Seattle; #2 Orlando; #3 New York City.
• 450+ traffic fatalities and 51,900+ serious traffic accidents are expected over the Labor Day weekend… so drive safely.
• 69% of Americans say Labor Day is their favorite holiday.
• 64% of Americans plan to celebrate the holiday.
• 34% of Americans have not taken a vacation in more than one year. 62% have left vacation days on the table. 23% of American workers earn no vacation days.
• The average work day for those working in an office is 7.8 hours; for those working at home it’s 5.1 hours.
• Some 86 races will be held across America this Labor Day weekend.
