Happy Grandparents Day 2024 | Why Grandparents Are Important
HAPPY GRANDPARENTS DAY 2024!
“Grandparents, like heroes, are as necessary to a child’s growth as vitamins.”
… Joyce Allston
National Grandparents Day is celebrated annually on the first Sunday after Labor Day in the United States. Established in 1978 by President Jimmy Carter, the National Grandparents Day honors the vital role grandparents play in families and society. Today’s the day to recognize their wisdom, love, and contributions to the lives of younger generations. Grandparents often serve as caregivers, mentors, and historians, passing down traditions, values, and stories that shape family legacies.
Wishing all my fellow grandparents and great-grandparents, as well as honorary grandparents, a very happy Grandparents Day and a day filled with joy and laughter!
Grandparents are important. Here are three reasons why:
- Grandparents provide unconditional love, something children need to feel secure.
- Grandparents are the source of family tradition, culture, values, and history, something children need to feel connected to their roots.
- According to an Oxford University study, children whose grandparents are involved in their lives show fewer behavioral and emotional problems.
“Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children.”
… Alex Haley
